Too many musicians in today’s society look at a career in music in a similar light to winning the lottery. “If I take part in some small way maybe lady luck will shine down with that massive finger” … ‘IT’S YOUUUU!’ And HEY, who know’s maybe that might just happen. Right place, right time and all that shit….. and maybe you will win the lottery too. Life is crazy like that… or maybe it won’t and you will end up like so many others who haven’t taken control of their career … bitter!
However let’s just say for argument sake, that you’re not a completely mental head and you want a bit more control over your life and music career.
The 1% rule – is a simple and obvious concept. If you can take something in your working life and make it 1% better and repeat this every day. In a month you would have made 30% difference. Can you imagine what you could achieve in a year or 5 years! I submit you will be a damn site closer to that career in music!
All you have to do is analyze what can be improved, and in my experience, everything can be improved! And then get cracking!
Just in case you don’t know where to start here are a bunch of words I’m throwing at you that can be improved upon : Your promo photos, video’s, demo’s, website, gear, practice schedule, networking, image, social media, backing vocals… etc etc
Stop thinking about how you can jump onto someone else’s career and start preparing for your own!
Also eat more vegetables!
